Glastonbury Cops Thwart Downtown Area Vehicle Break-In Attempts

GLASTONBURY, CT — A 34-year-old Hartford man remained in custody Tuesday after being arrested on charges related to a series of attempted vehicle burglaries in the Downtown Glastonbury area, police said.

According to incident reports, Glastonbury Police arrested David McClendon on Jan. 3 after he was identified as someone attempting to burglarize several vehicles downtown in the overnight hours.

On one warrant, he was charged with criminal attempt at third-degree burglary. On another warrant, he was charged with engaging police in a pursuit, a stop light violation, traveling unreasonably fast and driving without a license, records show.

As of Tuesday morning, McClendon was still in custody. His initial bond of $10,000 was upped to $25,000 during a Jan. 3 court appearance for the attempted burglary charge and he had not posted it, according to judicial system records. He also failed to post a $1,500 bond for the pursuit-related charges, records show.

He is due back in court on Feb. 2.
