Glastonbury Farmer: 'Bad Weather Means Different Food Tastes'

Too much rain can cause fruits and vegetables to taste different, one local farmer told WFSB.

While inevitable extreme weather will likely affect food production across the country, one local farmer said there's something else that's changing: the taste.

Wenny Contreras, of Rose's Berry Farm in Glastonbury, told WFSB that the heavy rains could affect how tasty a particular fruit is. Contreras told the news station that something like a watermelon could taste more "sour" when it grows in areas experiencing heavy rain as opposed to lighter rain.

WFSB interviewed Contreras for a story about how produce prices will likely be going up as the nation copes with extreme weather such as flooding and other hazards.
