Glastonbury Officials Issue Coronavirus Preparedness Update

The Town of Glastonbury has a variety of efforts in progress to prepare for the potential influence of COVID-19 on the Glastonbury community and town operations. Activities now underway include:

  • The Town Manager and others are participating in regular conference calls coordinated through the Governor’s Office and other public health agencies.
  • Ongoing meetings with representatives from all town Departments to plan and prepare for the potential influence of COVID-19 on operations and community programming. The overarching goal is to identify all possible scenarios and prepare a response plan as reasonably possible.
  • Town staff have been educated on preventative hygiene practices and signage has been posted in staff and public restrooms regarding proper hand-washing practices.
  • Facilities Maintenance has accelerated cleaning & disinfecting throughout all town facilities.
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitary supplies are available in all facilities for staff and public use.
  • Per the recommendation of Governor Lamont and State Commissioners, Town-sponsored programs expected to attract 100+ attendees will be cancelled or postponed until further instruction is provided.Information regarding such changes will be shared on the town website and Facebook page as applicable.

The following preventative steps are encouraged at all times, and especially during times when the flu and other viruses are more prevalent, to help protect the health of the Glastonbury community:

  • Stay home when you are sick and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
