Glastonbury PD Swears In Its Newest Officers

Two new officers are joining the police force in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury's newest police officers were sworn in Monday.

Maria Famularo comes to Glastonbury as a certified police officer in Springfield, MA, where she served for more than six years.

Famularo was a member of the Springfield Police Department Peer Support Team. She also worked as an undercover officer, a training officer and has been very involved in the Community Policing aspect of the job at the Springfield PD.

Famularo has also received several departmental awards, including the Springfield Police Department Life Saving Award. She has an associate's degree in criminal justice from Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Adelphi University, also on Long Island.

Alexander Maldonado grew up in Avon and attended schools in Farmington. He graduated from Farmington High School. Upon graduation, he attended college at Miami University in Ohio.

Prior to accepting the position here, Maldonado was employed as the livestock manager at Sub Edge Farm, in Farmington, where he was responsible for the lives and well-being of more than 2,000 animals.

Maldonado will carry badge 483 and Famularo will carry badge 485.
