Glastonbury Town Council Member Now In The Hunt For State House Seat
Town Councilor Anthony DiLizia says he has collected 600-plus signatures to qualify for a Democratic primary.

GLASTONBURY, Connecticut — Glastonbury Town Council member and now-Democratic candidate for state representative Anthony DiLizia Wednesday announced that his campaign has turned in nearly 600 verified signatures from Democratic voters, more than doubling the 286 required to qualify for the primary ballot.
"I am grateful to the many volunteers, supporters, and neighbors who helped make this effort possible on such a short timeline," DiLizia said. "Over the last week, we’ve knocked thousands of doors, and I've personally had conversations with Democrats from every corner of the district. People want Democratic leadership that listens, shows up, and gets things done. They're concerned about rising costs, protecting our schools, and defending Connecticut against Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda. That's the work I’ve done as a councilor, and that's the work I'm committed to continuing as your State Representative."
In addition to being a Glastonbury town councilor, he is a U.S. Army veteran, and a "healthcare leader," according to the campaign.

Said the campaign, "Anthony DiLizia has built his life around service—to our country, to our community, and to the people who too often get left behind. Raised right here in Eastern Connecticut, Anthony served overseas as an intelligence analyst before overseeing operations of an Army behavioral health department. Today, he serves as the executive director of a healthcare non-profit that delivers compassionate, affirming healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community."
Laura Cahill, the 4th District Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee representative, added, "Anthony is the real deal—a veteran and public servant with the experience, ability, and drive to contribute even more to our community. At this moment in history, it has never been more important to have true Democratic values representing us in Hartford, and voters deserve a choice this August — a fair, open process for Democrats to select their next representative. We know Anthony, and we can trust Anthony to deliver solutions to the urgent issues facing Glastonbury families, while holding the line against extreme Republicans in Connecticut and Washington."
