Guilty Plea Entered In Fed Bank Robbery Case With Glastonbury Ties
A man has admitted to robbing three banks in Hartford County, federal authorities said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A Middletown man had admitted to robbing a bank branch in Glastonbury and two others in Hartford County, a federal prosecutor said.
Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Gino Rizo, 29, entered a guilty plea Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven in a bank robbery case.
According to court documents and statements made in court, using notes demanding cash, Rizzo robbed then-People's United Bank branches located in Stop & Shop supermarkets in Glastonbury on July 16, 2022 in Newington on July 18, 2022 and in West Hartford on July 20, 2022.

The banks were in the process of being transitioned to M&T Bank branches.
Rizzo was arrested on July 21, 2022.

On April 11, 2023, while on pre-trial release, Rizzo disconnected his GPS electronic monitoring bracelet and absconded from his court-mandated rehabilitation center, case records show.
He has been detained since his re-arrest on May 22, 2023.
Judge Meyer scheduled sentencing for Oct. 17, at which time Rizzo faces a maximum prison term of 20 years.
