Man Charged for 2015 Glastonbury Chemical Spill
The man is facing criminal charges for the incident.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A 2015 chemical spill at a Glastonbury business has been traced to a man who was fired from the company a few months earlier and the man has been charged for staging it, police said on Thursday.
Manuel Sastre, 54, of 530 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, us due in court on June 7 with a $50,000 bond assigned to his case, police said. He was arrested on May 22. He has been charged with discharge into state waters without a permit, first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary, police said.
According to police, Sastre had been terminated from CT Galvanizing/Highway Safety Corp. at 239 Commerce St. a few months earlier. He then went back to the company and intentionally spilled sodium hydroxide, according to a police report.

A judge has issued an order for him to stay away from the company, police said.
