Man Gets Prison Term For Child Sex Crimes Originating In Glastonbury
The man pleaded guilty earlier in 2023 to charges of receiving child pornography and enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.
NEW HAVEN, CT — A man who pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of receiving child pornography and enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, following an investigation initiated by Glastonbury police, was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a federal judge Thursday.
Justin McKenney, 29, formerly of Windsor Locks, was sentenced to 240 months of imprisonment, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer. He had pleaded guilty on April 11 to one count of each charge, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in Oct. 2021, Glastonbury police began investigating a sexual assault complaint of a 13-year-old girl by a person she met on Snapchat. The investigation revealed McKenney posed as a high school student on Snapchat, began communicating with the teen in Sept. 2021, and subsequently enticed her to engage in sexual activity, Avery said.
