Manchester Man Charged In 2021 Glastonbury Robbery Case
A Glastonbury shoplifting case that turned violent led to charges against a Manchester man, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A grocery store shoplifting incident in Glastonbury turned into a major robbery charge for a Manchester man, police said.
The shoplifting took place at 2 p.m. in January 2021, and Stephen Pinto was charged June 8 at Rockville Superior Court, where he was present for another matter, according to a police report.

A warrant had been issued for Pinto's arrest at the conclusion of a robbery investigation, police said. Pinto is accused of pushing a store loss-prevention associate at a Glastonbury grocery store and pulling a knife as he fled the scene with stolen merchandise, according to a police report.
He was charged with second-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny via the warrant.

Pinto, 29, a Manchester resident, was initially held on a $50,000 bond and he did not post it at a June 9 arraignment in Manchester Superior Court. He remained in custody Monday and is due back before a judge on June 30, judicial system records show.
