GLASTONBURY, CT — There's a new location for the popular shredding events in Glastonbury.

The Glastonbury Refuse Division is slated to host a community paper shred event on Saturday, May 4th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the transfer station, 2340 New London Turnpike.

The events were previously staged at the public works garage.

The shred events are for disposal of personal and residential documents only, officials said.

Here are the rules:

  • Limit of bags or boxes per vehicle.
  • Sensitive documents only are eligible for shredding - e.g. pay stubs, bank statements, medical records, personal identifying information, tax forms, etc.
  • Non-sensitive documents may be routinely recycled in your standard recycling container and are not accepted at shredding event - e.g. junk mail, magazines, books, cards, envelopes, school papers
  • Documents should be in secure bags / boxes which can support the weight of the material, and can be easily accessed within your vehicle for unloading by staff.
  • Resident verification (driver's license) required.
  • Container(s) or receptacle(s) used to deliver documents will NOT be returned.
