Pair Charged With Trying to Make Fraudulent, High-End Jewelry Purchases in Glastonbury

The pair entered a Glastonbury jewelry store with fake cards, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Two people are facing 32 charges each after entering a local high-end jewelry store and trying to make what police described at "large purchases" with bad credit cards.

The incident took place on Monday, police said. Jessie Siddell, 39, of Waterbury, entered the store and tried to make the purchases, police said. Store staffers then called police to alert them to a possible fraud and police went to the scene.

Officers quickly apprehended Siddell and Wilson Bernadel, identified as her accomplice. Bernadel, 28, lives in The Bronx, police said.

The two were charged with:

  • Criminal attempt at fourth-degree larceny
  • Conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny
  • Five counts of first-degree forgery
  • Six counts of illegal use of a credit card
  • Six counts of unlawful reproduction of a credit card
  • Six counts of credit card theft
  • Five counts conspiracy to commit a Class D felony
  • Conspiracy to commit a Class A misdemeanor
  • Interfering with police

The two had on them multiple fake IDs, fake social security cards and several miscellaneous items believed to have been purchased illegally, police said.
