Popular Community Shred Event On Tap In Glastonbury

GLASTONBURY, CT — A community shred event is on tap this month for Glastonbury residents.

It is slated for Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Glastonbury Public Works Highway Garage. 2380 New London Turnpike.

The DPW Refuse Disposal Division hosts two community shred events annually. They are free for Glastonbury residents only.

The second is scheduled for May 6, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DPW garage.

Documents for events are for personal, residential documents. Commercial or business sources are not accepted.

Here are the guidelines:

  • Limit of six bags or boxes.
  • No junk mail, magazines, books, cards, envelopes, metal ring binders, school papers. Sensitive documents only.
  • Not sure what is considered sensitive? Click here.
  • Non-sensitive documents may be routinely recycled.
  • Documents which require shredding should be in secure bags or boxes which can support the weight of the material, be easily accessed within your vehicle for unloading by staff.
  • Resident verification (driver's license) required.
  • Container(s) or receptacle(s) used to deliver documents to be shredded will not be returned.
