Proposed Glastonbury Pickleball Lights To Be 'Dark Sky Friendly'
Special lighting has been proposed for the pickleball courts at a park in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — What town officials are calling "dark sky friendly lights" have been proposed for the pickleball court project at Riverfront Park.
The Glastonbury Conservation Commission is set to review the lighting plans Wednesday.
Plans call for a dozen 20-foot light stanchions that feature "dark sky friendly luminaries." They would surround the courts at the park's pickle ball courts. They would be connected to the existing electrical service.

According to the plans, lights would be operated in the same manner as the basketball courts near the boathouse. Pickleball players would be able to turn them on manually via a push-button system equipped with a timer. The lights will be operational until 10 p.m.
Dark sky friendly lights are designed to minimize the upward glare into the night sky.
