'Specialty Grocer' OK'd For Parcel In Glastonbury

A grocery outlet may soon occupy a parcel on Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A "specialty grocery store" has been approved for a Hebron Avenue parcel that sits in between Sycamore and Lyndon stress.

The approval for 400 Hebron Avenue came Tuesday on a 4-2 vote.

The application sought a special permit with a design review to construct a delivery area on the west side of the existing building for a grocery outlet and an expansion of the parking area utilizing 366 Hebron Ave. and 7 Linden St.

The parcel sits in a Town Center Zone, a Residence A Zone and a Town Center Village District Overlay Zone. It had been deemed suitable for restaurants for some time.

In correspondence related to the local regulatory review, the town’s new Architectural and Site Design Review Committee expressed caution over the plan and town engineers expressed concern over the parking area and some exits.
