The Stork Club Daycare Centers Cited for Multiple Violations: State

The Glastonbury daycare facility at the center of an alleged child abuse case, and its other locations in CT, has been cited for violations.

GLASTONBURY, CT - The Stork Club daycare facility in Glastonbury, where two employees have been arrested on alleged child abuse charges, had been cited for multiple violations by the state Office of Early Childhood.

In fact, five of the daycare chain's six locations in Connecticut have been cited for various violations, according to state officials.

Among the violations reported over the past three years include neglect, failure to report, not "ensuring the safety, health & development of children," not maintaining proper child records and improper discipline, among others.

Besides Glastonbury, The Stork Club has locations in Cheshire, Meriden, Orange, Rocky Hill and Southington, and all but Cheshire had violations. In some instances complaints were made against the facilities and in others The Stork Club self-reported the violations.

Patch contacted the Glastonbury Stork Club, but the facility referred calls to owner/president Jeffrey Gandolfo, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In recent days, Glastonbury police arrested Meegan Beach, 40, director of the Glastonbury daycare center, and Nicole Mayo, 22, an employee at the same facility, on charges of alleged abuse and failure to report such incidents.

Mayo stand accused of hitting, restraining and "roughly handling" more than one child at the facility, including two-year-old Evan Zandonella, whose mother, Wilder, spoke to Fox61 News about the alleged abuse. She said Mayo force fed Evan in one instance to the point of tears.

Beach allegedly learned of the abuse from other employees, but she reportedly did nothing about it.
