Suspect Charged In Glastonbury Shots-Fired Case

A suspect has been charged for firing a gun in the direction of a woman at a Talcott Road home last month.

GLASTONBURY, CT — An 18-year-old has been arrested for firing a gun at a Talcott Road property last month, according to police.

A Talcott Road resident spotted two youths in dark clothing approaching her car parked in the driveway of her home July 2 at 2:59 a.m. She opened the front door and called out when one of the individuals fired two rounds in her direction.

The rounds struck the front door where the resident was standing, and she was not injured.

The suspect from Hartford arrested was 17 years old at the time of the shooting and will be charged as a juvenile. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree attempt to commit assault, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He is being held in juvenile detention in Hartford. He has been detained since Hartford police arrested him July 4 on charges related to possession of a stolen motor vehicle and a firearm that was forensically linked to the Glastonbury case case.

He will appear in court Aug. 24.

He was also charged in connection with another crime in Glastonbury that occurred directly after the Talcott Road incident on Franklin Lane. The suspect and another person entered an unlocked vehicle in a home's driveway and stole items from the vehicle.

Surveillance video showed that the suspect was holding a handgun with an extended high-capacity magazine and weapon-mounted tactical flashlight while ransacking the vehicle. The suspects fled Franklin Road in a white Volkswagen, which police believed matched a vehicle stolen from a driveway on Marilyn Drive in Glastonbury on July 1.

Hartford police later located this stolen car July 4.

He was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny in connection with this crime.

He was also charged by Hartford police for first-degree larceny, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal possession of a large-capacity magazine.
