The Glastonbury Health Department was notified on August 3, 2021 that a mosquito trapped on July 26th at the Tryon Street station has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).   The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) is responsible for weekly trapping, identifying, and testing mosquitoes for encephalitis viruses.

Several other towns in Connecticut have had mosquitos testing positive for WNV this year including, Darien, Greenwich, New Haven, Milford, Norwalk, South Windsor, Stamford, Stratford, Waterford and Wethersfield.

Positive findings are reported to local health departments and found on the CAES website at http://www.ct.gov/caes/mosquitotesting.
