What Does Glastonbury Drink on St. Patrick's Day?

Ron Prevatt of Sonoma Wines & Spirits tells Glastonbury Patch his St. Patrick's Day recommendations.

There are only a few names that usually come to mind when celebrating St. Patrick's Day: Guinness, Smithicks, Jameson. But what about other options for the Glastonbury resident looking for something a little different?

Glastonbury Patch spoke with Ron Prevatt, owner of Sonoma Wine & Spirits, about some of the lesser known alternatives to the popular choices for St. Patrick's Day.

"Beer is what most people congregate towards," Prevatt said of Glastonbury's drink of choice.

Everyone knows about Guinness, what Prevatt called "the typical stuff," but Prevatt recommended locally created craft beers instead: Thomas Hooker, Two Roads, or any of a number of lesser known local breweries.

"I'm big for local stuff to get people involved in local breweries," he said.

When it comes to whiskey--another popular choice on St. Patrick's Day--Prevatt said suggested lesser known brands like Tullamore Dew or John L. Sullivan over the better-known Jameson.

"Jameson is known for one thing," Prevatt said. "Their marketing."

There are a lot of choices available for consumers when it comes to liquor, Prevatt said.  Most people just don't know they're their.

"You have to talk to people," he said.
