Press release from the House of Heroes Connecticut:

November 2 2020

Whole Foods Glastonbury chefs Alex Czehmester and Larry Siragusa were the stars of the show recently at a COVID-safe gourmet dinner for eight, generously donated by Whole Foods to House of Heroes Connecticut as a silent auction prize at the non-profit veterans service organization’s Hearts & Heroes Dinner Dance fundraiser earlier this year. The event raised $48,000 to provide one-day home repairs for Connecticut veterans in need. The dinner was hosted by HOHCT board members Jackie Lovett and her brother, Glastonbury resident Paul Hoar. It was a family affair as the winning bid was submitted by yet another member of the Hoar family, Paul and Jackie's sister Ann Adams, along with Scott Yeomans. “The winning bid was $500, but the meal was worth at least double that,” said Hoar. “The magic started late in the afternoon and finished with dessert and port after 10 p.m. It was a fantastic evening for a great cause.” Added Chef Alex, “This was so much fun! When can we do it again!?“ House of Heroes Connecticut has completed more than 130 veterans projects since 2012, including one Glastonbury project last year and another local project slated for next year in partnership with the Glastonbury Rotary Club.
