• Loud Bangs Expected During Police Training In Granby (patch.com) — Granby residents living near the former Kearns School are being alerted to loud bangs and a visible police presence Thursday as officers run a training exercise from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5 Canton Road. Police are asking for residents' cooperation during the training, which comes as the town continues to weigh redevelopment options for the now-closed school property.
   

• Metal Beam Guiderail Upgrades to Route 20 in East Granby and Granby (ct.gov) — Expect daytime lane closures on Route 20 in Granby starting September 23 as the state upgrades metal beam guiderails between Route 10 and mile marker 24.79. Work will run through October 26 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., so plan extra travel time and drive cautiously through the construction zone.
   

• Connecticut high school field hockey top performances, games to watch (Sept. 16) (ctpost.com subscription) — Granby Memorial's field hockey team hosts Southington on Thursday at 4 p.m., a key early-season home test after wins over Farmington and Northwest Catholic. The statewide roundup also spotlights standout performances from players and teams across Connecticut, giving Granby fans context on how their program stacks up this fall.
