The first four ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes for their adoptive parents, identified by numbers corresponding to the tickets. First prize is a $500 pre-paid VISA debit card. Ticketholders need not be present to win.
On the day of the derby, Saturday, July 13, the Lions will hold a pig roast, with hamburgers, hot dogs, kettle corn and ice cream also available. The pig roast, with music by the Bristol Old Tyme Fiddle Band, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The duck race will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Ducks are available for adoption at the East Granby Farmer's Market on Wednesdays or on the day of the race at Granbrook Park until 1 p.m. Tickets are also available from any East Granby Lion Member.
