The YMCA Teen Leaders of Granby, “From the Ground Up”, will also take part in the opening day festivities.  “From the Ground Up” is a group of local teens (Olivia Delello, Amanda Zyzdorf, Danielle Sturgeon, Meghan Sawtelle, McKenzie Newton, Gene O Desideraggio, and Casey Hunt) whose goal is to empower every child with the knowledge and tools needed to access fresh, healthy foods.  They will be selling fresh produce grown in the community gardens they built at the Farmington Valley YMCA.  They will also help with the children’s planting ceremony where children will have the opportunity to plant a flower around the border of the community gardens and make a handprint on a garden stone.

Opening day entertainment will be provided by Harmonic Rewalk.  This band from Simsbury has won Simsbury High School's Battle of the Bands for the past two years.  Harmonic Rewalk is composed of four seniors:  Sam Kyzivat (lead singer, violin, ukulele), Ryan Riley (drums, harmonica, back-up vocals), David McDonald (bass guitar), and Nick Bredice (guitar).  In their music you will hear influences from The Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Barefoot Truth, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and Billy Joel blended with their own unique sound. They will cover songs from these artists as well as several of their own original tunes.
