Local businessman, Marty McMahon is planning a Charity Swim for July 17. Open water swimming has an achievement known as the Triple Crown. In 1985, he completed the first swim when he swam the English Channel. Four years after that, he tackled the second swim, Manhattan Island. 28 years after his first swim he will attempt the third swim, Catalina Island. If successful, he will break the current record of 22 years between first and last swims. Catalina Island is twenty miles off the California coast just south of Los Angeles. Information on the swim can be found at http://www.swimcatalina.com.
