State Representative Bill Simanski, State Senator Kevin Witkos and Northwest Community Bank recently organized an Essay Contest for 6th grade students from Ann Antolini School in New Hartford.
The state legislators and bank officials gathered at Ann Antolini School on Tuesday, June 11th, to award four winners and four other student contestants for their scholarly essays.
Each contestant was asked to write their essays on their favorite United States President and to explain their choice. The four winners and four second place winners were selected by their teachers’ and principal based on the quality of their essays and their writing skills.
After the opening remarks by both Senator Witkos and Representative Simanski, each student recited their essays in front of their parents, colleagues, teachers and state legislators.
Each student was presented with an Official Citation from the General Assembly for their academic achievement in the contest.
The Northwest Community Bank also awarded teach student with a student bank account with a start-up balance of $100 and a 5% interest rate.
