Now is the time to apply. There is less than one week for parents, grandparents, and guardians to submit applications for available seats in eight (8) schools through the Regional School Choice Office’s (RSCO’s) New Schools and Opportunities Lottery. As part of the New Schools and Opportunities (NSO) Lottery, three new schools will open their doors to students in the fall. Five existing schools are also expanding their grade offerings for the 2013-2014 school year. Before submitting an NSO Lottery application, families should note specific grades where seats are available by visiting www.choiceeducation.com for the latest information and school locations. Space is available for the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School, Hartford Pre-Kindergarten Magnet School, Montessori Magnet at Moylan School, Betances Early Reading Lab School, Betances STEM Magnet School, Breakthrough II Magnet School, Hartford Journalism and Media Magnet School, and Two Rivers Magnet Middle School. Those interested must submit NSO Lottery applications by Monday, April 29, 2013. Families may apply online by visiting the RSCO website at www.choiceeducation.org and clicking on the “Apply Now” link in the orange box with the headline “Make it a GO with the New Schools and Opportunities Lottery.” Families may also visit RSCO’s Parent Information Center, open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and located at 165 Capitol Avenue, Room 270, in Hartford, to submit an application and have questions answered by RSCO staff. The Parent Information Center will be open for extended hours, until 6:00 p.m., on Monday, April 29, 2013. Families with questions about the NSO Lottery application process should visit or call the Parent Information Center at 860.713.6990.
