Explore two private gardens in Barkhamsted and Washington,
open to the public for self-guided tours to benefit the Garden Conservancy and
Hollister House Garden. No reservations required; rain or shine. Highlights
include parterres connected by banks and a stairway, a 150-foot border with
peonies, Oriental lilies, and annuals, large potted tree roses, enclosed garden
rooms, and mountain vistas.
Hours vary; begin at Washington Hill or see opendaysprogram.org for additional locations. Admission is $5 per garden; children 12 & under free.
