Painting from Mclean Game Refuge wins national award on Texas!

Local and internationally known Simbury artist Catherine M Elliott won a prestigious award at ThevPlein Air Southwest Salon 2013. It is a juried plein air competition, show and sale sponsored by the Outdoor Painters Society and showcased each April at Southwest Gallery in Dallas, Texas. The Salon features plein air paintings from many of the best painters working today. One of her two painting that was accepted received the Plein Air Magazine Award of Excellence by the juror George Strickland. The work that won was painted at Mclean Game Refuge in Granby. “Sanctuary” 16” x 20” oil on linen The Lyman Allyn Museum and Lyme Art Association will exhibit three of her latest pieces in a show called ''Celebrating the Beauty of Old Lyme,Ct. They consist of her painting trips to historical places that are important to preserve in our state of Connecticut.
