VNA HealthCare Awards Nursing Scholarship to East Granby Student

VNA HealthCare awarded a scholarship to West Hartford nursing student Jason Proulx as part of its Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing gala. He is junior studying for a BSN at the Central Connecticut State University. He accepted his scholarship from Ellen Rothberg, President and CEO of VNA HealthCare at a breakfast held April 26. VNA HealthCare awarded $500 each to ten deserving students who were nominated by their schools. VNA HealthCare has awarded over $54,000 in scholarships since the Nightingale program began in 2003 to encourage and support careers in nursing. The Nightingale Awards event is a recognition program to be held for the eleventh time this year in Hartford. Representing 32 health care institutions, 114 nurses will be honored at a dinner at the Hartford Marriott Downtown for 500 to be held on May 9. The Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing program was originally developed by the Visiting Nurse Association of South Central CT to be a collaborative effort to celebrate outstanding nurses and elevate the nursing profession. Concurrent events will be held in New Haven, New London and Stamford. To view photos of the scholarship winners, please visit: www.vnahealthcare.org.
