wisdom from 3 24 year olds who had addley as principal

 had a very interesting and revealing talk with 3 24 year old young men yesterday. All 3 went through the Granby school system, all 3 went and voted yesterday which in this day and time is huge and all 3 voted no. That was also interesting. I asked why and the reasons were vast and strong, taxes on vehicles they own were way too high, they can't afford to buy a house in a town they grew up in and if they could buy a house they would go broke paying property taxes. The school leaders they looked up to at one time including Addley who they all had as principal are all out for more and more and they act like it is for kids and it is for more money in any way they can. The way they use scare tactics to get school budgets passed discussed them and they wondered if that always happened like it does now. I told them of course but it has gotten worse. One of the guys mentioned he purposely joined the Republican party thinking they would cut spending and lower taxes and he wanted to help with that because that is what he heard republicans do versus Dems. he was disappointed greatly. He discovered that everyone in town Government in Granby whether rep or dem is just about getting more money from any source they can to fulfill their need and there is no difference. "State and fed money is free so why not". One of the guys said they do not see a future in this town or this state and he would most likely go south or west. they were all surprised and wondered how people on a fixed income can stay and survive in this town. More wisdom than anything I have heard from any town leader in the last 10 years.
