$11,400 Larceny Rap For Former Greenwich Accounting Clerk: Police

The suspect worked in the town's Parking Services Department.

GREENWICH, CT — A 48-year-old Greenwich man, a former accounting clerk in the town's Parking Services Department, was arrested on a warrant last week charging him with additional offenses of first-degree larceny and other violations in connection with the theft of $11,400 from the department, according to police.

In addition to larceny, Michael D. Gordon, of Byram Road, was additionally charged with:

  • False entry by an officer or agent
  • Forgery, second degree
  • E-crime, first degree

Gordon was first arrested in April in connection with the crime, for which he stands accused of diverting money from parking services to himself, Greenwich detectives say.

"Through an elaborate series of fraudulent transactions, Gordon misapplied credits certain for non-cash transactions in order to satisfy parking violations tickets that had been paid by violators in cash," wrote Greenwich police in a statement. "Gordon subsequently was able to divert the surplus cash to his criminal scheme. Between December 6, 2016, and April 7, 2017, it was discovered that Gordon was responsible for stealing over $11,400."

Gordon was arrested on June 8, and was released after posting a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 23.
