3 Men Accused Of Passing Counterfeit $100 Bills: Greenwich Police

Police said officers noticed "suspicious activity" within the central Greenwich business district on Dec. 14.

GREENWICH, CT — Three men were arrested on Dec. 14 and accused of passing counterfeit $100 bills at a Greenwich business, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

Keshon Phillips and Levell Burnett, both 22 and from Newark, N.J., and Jahsaan Etienne, 22, of Brooklyn, N.Y., face charges ranging from first-degree forgery to conspiracy and sixth-degree larceny, their arrest reports note.

On Dec. 14 around 4:30 p.m., "GPD plainclothes officers observed suspicious activity within the central Greenwich business district in relation to a vehicle known for committing counterfeiting crimes in other towns in CT," police said in an arrest report.

Shortly after, a local Greenwich business reported two men passed counterfeit bills, police said, noting that officers working in the area detained three people later identified as Phillips, Burnett and Etienne.

An investigation found that the three men conspired with each other and presented counterfeit $100 bills to purchase $25 worth of merchandise, police said. The location of the incident on arrest reports is listed as Mason Street.

A search of the car the men were driving found 16 additional counterfeit $100 bills "in a shared and uniquely accessible location," according to police, along with several fake IDs, a counterfeit debit card and a counterfeit social security card.

All three men were unable to post bonds of $50,000. They're scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 29.
