During a press update late Monday afternoon, First Selectman Fred Camillo said Police Chief James Heavey was urging residents to be more vigilant about locking their vehicles.

"Car thieves aren't staying home because of COVID-19," Heavey said in a statement. "Lock it or you may become a victim of car thieves."

Last week, a 2017 Range Rover and a 2020 Audi Q5 were stolen from the area near Pecksland Road and Round Hill Road. Both vehicles were unlocked, and the Range Rover was ultimately recovered in Waterbury, Zuccerella said.
