The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is warning residents.

GREENWICH, CT — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has issued an advisory that Greenwich's air quality on Thursday, May 18, will be "unhealthy for sensitive groups."

"Active children and adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma, should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors," wrote CT DEEP in a statement.

According to officials, during warm months, unhealthy levels of ground ozone concentrations "may cause a variety of respiratory problems including breathing difficulty, coughing, and throat irritation."
