Applications Open For 2026 Greenwich Police Citizens' Police Academy (patch.com) β Greenwich residents and workers can now apply for the free 2026 Citizens' Police Academy, a nine-week program starting Sept. 22 that offers an inside look at local police work. Participants will explore patrol operations, investigations, forensics, DUI enforcement, and de-escalation, plus experience a ride-along and marine patrol instruction with Greenwich Police. Space is limited and applications are due Sept. 17.

First Female Greenwich Firefighter, Whitney Welch Retires after 37 Years of Service (greenwichfreepress.com) β Greenwich's first female firefighter, lifelong resident Whitney Welch, has retired after 37 years serving the town, including roles in fire prevention, car seat safety, and EMS. She reflects on breaking barriers in the Greenwich Fire Department, mentoring the community, and continuing to give back through coaching at YWCA Greenwich and therapy dog visits to local schools and libraries.
