Applications Open For 2026 Greenwich Police Citizens' Police Academy (patch.com) — Greenwich residents and workers can now apply for the free 2026 Citizens' Police Academy, a nine-week program starting Sept. 22 that offers an inside look at local police work. Participants will explore patrol operations, investigations, forensics, DUI enforcement, and de-escalation, plus experience a ride-along and marine patrol instruction with Greenwich Police. Space is limited and applications are due Sept. 17.

First Female Greenwich Firefighter, Whitney Welch Retires after 37 Years of Service (greenwichfreepress.com) — Greenwich's first female firefighter, lifelong resident Whitney Welch, has retired after 37 years serving the town, including roles in fire prevention, car seat safety, and EMS.
