Angelo Luchetta, 82: Greenwich Tailor

Angelo F. Luchetta, 82 of Stamford, CT passed away Tuesday October 18th peacefully at Stamford Hospital. Angelo was born in San Vincenzo la Costa, Cosenza Italy on February 14th, 1934. Angelo moved to the United States in 1949 when he was 15 years old. He lived in Port Chester, NY for a short period of time before moving permanently to Stamford, CT.

Angelo worked as a tailor. He first worked at Zemo Brothers in Port Chester, before moving on to Chakalos Tailoring in Greenwich, CT for about 30 years. Then Angelo completed his tailoring career at Darien Sport Shop where he retired from last year at the age of 81. He loved all his customer’s, co-workers and took pride in his work.

Angelo is survived by his wife of 56 years Carmela Luchetta of Stamford, CT. Also survived by his 3 sons David Luchetta of New Milford, CT, Dennis Luchetta of Stamford, CT and Kevin and his wife Karen Luchetta of Wilton, CT. Angelo has 4 grandchildren Megan and her husband Zachary Simao of New Milford, CT, David Jr Luchetta of New Milford, CT and Riley & Ryan Luchetta of Wilton, CT. He has one great grandson, Liam Camp of New Milford, CT. Also he is survived by his sister Eva Luchetta of Cosenza, Italy and Mario Luchetta of Weston, CT. Angelo was pre-deceased by his brother John Luchetta, of Norwalk, CT.

Angelo was an avid baseball fan and his favorite team was the NY Yankees, he never missed a game on the TV or radio. He loved taking care of his garden, especially his tomato plants.

Mass will be held in honor of Angelo on Saturday October 22nd 2016, 10 am at St. Cecilia Church located on 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Followed by burial at St. Mary’s/Putnam Cemetery located at 399 North Street, Greenwich, CT. No calling hours will be held.
