Anthony A Scheck Sr., 95; U.S. Army Veteran, Retired Greenwich DPW Superintendent

Anthony A Scheck Sr., 95, of Sheephill Road, Riverside CT. passed away peacefully Monday November 10, 2014 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY.

Born in Greenwich Hospital on March 21, 1919, son of John and Mary Scheck.

Raised in Glenville, CT and was employed by the former GAF Corporation, then served in the Army during WWII as a tank commander with a rank of Sergeant in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign. Wounded twice in battle, he returned home to reside in Riverside T. Proud of his service to his country, he was one of the founders of the 9th District Veteran Association of Glenville, CT. He was employed 35 years by the Town of Greenwich as a Public Works Equipment Superintendent with the Highway department.

He is survived by his wife Irene E (Walters) Scheck, cAnthony A. Scheck, Jr. (MaryLynn), John J. Scheck, Joanne Santora (Steven), Jeffery J. Scheck & grandchildren, Carey, Casey, Daniel, Christopher, Samantha, Katherine and Victoria, sister-in-law Irene R. Scheck and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his brothers, Michael Scheck, Stanley Scheck, Rev. Francis Scheck, Joseph Scheck and sisters, Ann Hallock, Julie Schultz, Cecelia Hylenski and Genevieve Kurtz.
He was quite a man with an impressive past.

A service will be held at St Catherine’s Church, Riverside, CT. Saturday, November 29th at 10:30 am, followed by burial with a Military Honor Service at St Mary’s Cemetery on North Street.
