GREENWICH, CT — A 47-year-old attorney was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Oct. 17 for his attempted enticement of a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl, according to a news release from Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Tong Hyon Suh, also known as Jason Suh, of The Bronx, N.Y., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Cathy Seibel. Suh was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release.

According to documents filed in the case and statements made in related court proceedings, a detective with the Greenwich Police Department posed as a 14-year-old girl named "Megan" and communicated with Suh via the messaging platform Kik beginning on April 24, 2022, Williams said.

Suh identified himself as a 45-year-old Korean male living in New York City and indicated that he wanted to meet with "Megan" for sex. The detective told Suh that she was a 14-year-old female from Connecticut.

In his messages, Suh described sexual acts he wanted to perform on "Megan" and he made a plan to take a train to Greenwich, use a ride service to pick the girl up from her house, and then go to a home he rented to engage in sexual activity, Williams said.

"Megan" gave Suh an address in Greenwich and told him that she lived there. She requested that Suh bring condoms, lollipops, and marijuana, Williams said.

On May 27, 2022, Suh traveled to Greenwich via a northbound Metro-North train, and he went to the address provided by "Megan," where he was subsequently arrested, Williams said.

Suh's briefcase contained a laptop computer, a thumb drive, sneakers, matches, marijuana, toiletries, clothing, an unopened package of lollipops, and six condoms, Williams noted.

At the time of his arrest, Suh was registered as an active attorney in New York with a business address in The Bronx. He pleaded guilty in March of this year.

"Tong Hyon Suh attempted to engage in predatory behavior with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old, showing a disturbing disregard for the safety and well-being of minors," Williams said in a news release. "This sentencing underscores our commitment to confronting threats to minors. We will not rest until those who seek to manipulate and endanger children face the consequences of their actions. Justice for the vulnerable is not just our duty; it is a promise we intend to keep."

Williams praised the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Westchester Safe Streets Task Force and the Greenwich Police Department in connection with this investigation.
