Bank Of America To Close 3 CT Branches, Including In Greenwich
The employees at the branches will be transferred to others in the Bank of America network, a company spokesperson told Patch.

GREENWICH, CT — Bank of America is set to close three of its Connecticut branches in 2024, including one in Greenwich.
According to the website for the financial center and walk-up ATM at 162 E. Putnam Ave., in Cos Cob, the location will permanently close on March 19, 2024.
A branch at 48 Wall St., in Norwalk, and one in Hartford at 70 Farmington Ave., will shutter on Aug. 20, 2024. In September, Bank of America announced plans to close a branch in Stamford.

"As we keep investing in new financial centers, we are constantly adapting our financial center and ATM networks to fit our clients’ changing needs," a Bank of America spokesperson told Patch Wednesday. "The teammates working out of these financial centers will be transferred to others in our network as we remain committed to the community with about 2,6000 employees in Connecticut."
The banking giant will still have a presence in Greenwich with its branch at 240 Greenwich Ave. There are also four financial centers/ATMs in Norwalk, and seven other locations in Hartford.

More bank branches have closed in Connecticut in recent years as people have moved toward online banking.
A January 2022 Patch report noted that a trend toward online banking during the COVID-19 pandemic led to a 38 percent spike in retail bank branch closings across the country in 2021.
Connecticut saw a net loss of 59 banks in 2021.
Earlier this year, Wells Fargo announced it would close locations in Danbury, Darien and Waterbury. A branch in Monroe also closed in June, as did a Webster Bank branch in Old Saybrook.
Citizen's Bank will close its Amity Road branch in Woodbridge, according to The New Haven Register. The location will close Oct. 18.
In 2022, it was announced that seven People's United-M&T Bank branches inside Stop & Shop Supermarkets would close.
