Camillo Announces Plans For AI Task Force In Greenwich
The task force would develop an AI strategy and implement a policy for its use, Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo said.
GREENWICH, CT — With the usage of AI seemingly increasing by the day, the Town of Greenwich is looking for ways to harness the technology.
First Selectman Fred Camillo announced during last week's Board of Selectmen meeting that he's putting together an AI task force "to not only come up with a strategy going forward that's going to be really geared toward taking advantage of AI and making the town much more efficient, but to have a policy in place."
The task force would be made up of about seven people, Camillo said, noting there are three people already committed. Camillo will announce the names when the task force is filled out.

"It's exciting, but you also have to be very careful with this," Camillo said. "We're already starting to see people submitting things that are not written by them. If a town is doing it, we want to make sure you have to do your own research, too, because you can't just take what you're given on AI because it may be wrong. This is something we're really looking forward to."
More details on the task force and its responsibilities are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
