Car Stolen From Gas Station In Broad Daylight: Greenwich Police
Police said the incident occurred on the morning of Jan. 19 in Greenwich.

GREENWICH, CT — A car was stolen from a gas station in Greenwich last Friday in broad daylight, and police are warning residents about how to not fall victim to similar thefts.
On Jan. 19 at approximately 10:40 a.m., a woman parked her 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC-300 at the Shell gas station at 401 W. Putnam Ave., and went into the convenience store area for a brief period of time, according to Capt. John Slusarz of the Greenwich Police Department, who noted the car was unlocked and the keys were left inside.
A thief who was waiting nearby got into the car and stole it, Slusarz said. The car was recovered later in the day in New Haven, and no arrests have been made.

Slusarz warned residents to be aware of their surroundings.
"Don't get complacent. Always make sure you shut off and lock your car, and take your keys and fobs with you even if you're just running into the store for a moment or paying for your gas," Slusarz said. "There are people out there that will take advantage and take your vehicle."
