College Admissions Scandal: Greenwich Lawyer Leaves Firm: Report

GREENWICH, CT — Gordon Caplan, the Greenwich parent and attorney embroiled in the federal college admissions bribery scandal, has been dismissed from his New York law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, writes The American Lawyer.
Caplan, former co-Chairman at the prestigious firm, had been on leave since the scandal broke last month, pleaded guilty last week to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. He was accused of paying a $75,000 bribe to fraudulently boost his daughter's ACT scores.
In a statement, Willkie Farr said that it was cutting ties with Caplan because his actions ran contrary to its core values.

Caplan also has apologized for his behavior, and said he will concentrate on winning back his family's and the community's trust.
