Counterfeit Currency Passed At Greenwich Post Office: Police

The suspect bought a money order with the fake money on June 7.

GREENWICH, CT — An undisclosed number of counterfeit $100 bills were passed at the central Greenwich Post Office on Amogerone Crossway on June 7, according to Greenwich police.

An unnamed customer allegedly used the fake bills to buy a money order at about 3 p.m., and the United States Secret Service has been notified of the incident.

Late last month, the Greenwich department issued a warning for businesses and residents to be on the lookout for counterfeit money, a problem that has hit other area jurisdictions in addition to Greenwich in recent months.
