Stephen Meskers shares why he should be elected to serve the 150th State House District, which covers a portion of Greenwich.

GREENWICH, CT — The 2022 election is heating up in Connecticut and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office. Eyes are primarily focused on the gubernatorial election, but every state representative and senate seat is up for grabs. All five of Connecticut's congressional seats, plus one U.S. Senate seat, are up for grabs as well.
There are 151 seats in the state House of Representatives and 36 in the state Senate. Democrats currently hold majorities in both chambers

Why are you seeking this office?
I want to represent my community in Hartford and be a agent of economic development for the State
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Economic Growth and low taxes. Greenwich and Faurfield are great donors to the state budget I want to see the money spent wisely and make sure the we growth the state’s economy to ease the tax burden. We only succeed here when we create economic growth and employment opportunities in our cities
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am a strong proponent of Gun safety, a women right to reproductive health care choice , diversity and inclusion, modernized and accessible voting rules. I also support public education and evidences based decisions vaccines.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Access to bonding for our non profits and helping to close the achievement gap. Which continues on work I started this past session.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I brought home bond grants for projects in Greenwich and increased the income exemption on retiree income.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Work hard and listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth so you should use them in that ratio 2 to 1 and not try to compensate. I am still working on it to be honest
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
When you have lived a pretty full life you learn that you don’t own the moral high ground you rent it occasionally if you are lucky. The world is complex and diverse and wonderful - take it all in before you make a decisions. We all make mistakes, I try to learn from mine. I am the luckiest guy in the world to have this job and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.
