Details Emerge In Suspension Of Greenwich Police Captain: Report
Capt. Mark Kordick recently was placed on administrative leave after allegedly advocating aggressively for benefits for another officer.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Police Capt. Mark Kordick was advocating for benefits on behalf of Greenwich Master Police Officer Stanley Sanders when Kordick clashed with the town's Retirement Board which led to Kordick being placed on administrative leave by the department, reports the Greenwich Time.
According to Sanders' wife, the 53-year-old veteran officer reportedly has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder since last year after he worked on a case involving an untimely death near the train tracks in Cos Cob. The death has left him "with severe psychiatric symptoms," states a medical report by a physician.
At issue is which disability plan Sanders would receive in retirement, which he is seeking. One is for "accidental disability," which means it happened on the job, or "ordinary disability," which means it happened while not at work, according to the publication.

The accidental kind pays a higher benefit payment rate and offers more services. A final decision by the board is slated for May 24.
