Greenwich Police Captain Reportedly Put On Administrative Leave

The circumstances surrounding the situation have not been officially disclosed by the town.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Captain who reportedly got into a dust-up with members of the town's Retirement Board, reportedly has been placed on administrative leave by the department, according to a Greenwich Time column by Bob Horton.

The circumstances surrounding Capt. Mark Kordick being placed on leave have not been disclosed by the town. He was reportedly placed on leave on April 13 but for how long also has not been disclosed. According to Horton, Kordick recently advocated for benefits on behalf of a veteran officer who reportedly suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

But the board's Chairman Joseph Pellegrino reportedly complained to the town about the alleged aggressive nature of Kordick's advocacy.

When asked by Patch for information concerning Kordick's situation, Barbara Heins, Executive Assistant to the First Selectman, issued the following statement, "It is Town policy that we do not comment on personnel matters."

That sentiment was echoed by Greenwich Police Capt. Kraig Gray almost verbatim. "We do not comment on employee personnel issues."

Kordick, who has been accused of aggressive behavior in the past, has temporarily been overseeing the town's beleaguered Parking Services Department, and in recent months has been updating the town's parking regulations.
