Distracted Driving Crackdown in Greenwich
Dozens of motorists ticketed for using cellphones while driving.
Greenwich Police are participating in National Distracted Driving Awareness month, ticketing motorists who use cellphones and other devices while driving.
In just the first seven days of April, Greenwich Police has issued 36 tickets for distracted driving and cell phone violations in this crack down, police said Wednesday. “Unfortunately we could have easily written 10 times that number,” police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said.
Local departments have received federal grants to help pay for the enforcement effort that will continue around town through the end of the month.
