Update, 1:45 p.m.
GREENWICH, CT — Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools Dr. Toni Jones sent a letter to all district families around 12 p.m. about the "disturbing message" that was found Thursday morning on the wall inside a girls bathroom at Greenwich High School.
Jones said the school district is working directly with the Greenwich Police Department to conduct security and investigative work.
"The building continues to conduct classes, and the students are passing in a pre-COVID route utilizing the inside of the building versus traveling outside on the sidewalk," Jones said. "While some families have chosen to pick up their children, or checked out their older children to drive home, the building is continuing the school day as advised by the police department. The Greenwich Police Department will continue to assist us monitoring the building throughout the day."
Jones referenced other incidents in Fairfield County that have occurred in recent days involving inappropriate phone calls and threats that have been deemed not credible.
In Norwalk late Wednesday night, police said they arrested a juvenile in connection with three hoax threatening incidents reported at Norwalk High School within a week.
"There is nothing more important than the safety of our students and staff. We are grateful for the strong support we have with the Greenwich Police Department," Jones said.
Update, 12 p.m.
Police said there was a medical call to Greenwich High School Thursday morning, but it was unrelated to the disturbing message found in a girls bathroom.
Police also reiterated that no arrest has been made in relation to the message.
