Firefighters Battle Blaze In Frigid Temperatures: Greenwich FD

"Our members had to deal with sub freezing temperatures and icy conditions throughout this fire," the Greenwich Fire Department said.

GREENWICH, CT — Firefighters battled a blaze at a home in Greenwich Wednesday night in frigid temperatures, according to the local fire department.

At approximately 6:55 p.m., Greenwich fire units were called to a home on Old Stone Bridge Road on a report from a neighbor of flames visible, the GFD said in a social media post.

Upon arrival, fire was scene on the roof and near the vicinity of the chimney. Units made entry into the house and went up to the attic area and extinguished all visible fire, the GFD said.

"Our members had to deal with sub freezing temperatures and icy conditions throughout this fire," the GFD added.

Units worked for approximately 40 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported, but the rood and attic area suffered damage from the flames.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire, the GFD said.
