Road Reopens Following Brush Fire In Greenwich: Police
Greenwich firefighters responded to a large brush fire on Friday afternoon, according to police.

GREENWICH, CT — First responders have cleared the scene of a large brush fire in Greenwich, and Stanwich Road at Dingletown Road has reopened, according to an update from police.
Firefighters were operating at the brush fire in the area of Stanwich Road and Cognewaugh Road, police said.
The fire came several days after a warning from the town about the increased risk due to dry weather conditions.

The Forest Fire Danger Level for Fairfield County has been at the "extreme" level, and last Friday Gov. Ned Lamont declared a state of emergency due to critical fire weather conditions.
Crews have been responding to the brush fire at Lamentation Mountain in Berlin and Meriden, which is being commonly referred to as the "Hawthorne Fire."
